Emma Catherine Rigby (born 26 September 1989), is an English actress, best known for her role in Hollyoaks as Hannah Ashworth.
Early life
Rigby was born in St. Helens, Merseyside and has one older sister, Charlotte. Rigby attended De La Salle High School[disambiguation needed] but left in 2006 to take up her role in Hollyoaks. Despite her role in Hollyoaks, Rigby received 9 A*s in her GCSEs. In January 2010, she left Hollyoaks to focus on future projects, admitting that she wanted to do theatre work or a British chick flick.
Until 2008, Rigby was represented by the Lamont Casting Agency in Liverpool, but is now represented by Independent Talent Group.
Filmography
One of Rigby's first roles was playing a small part in Liverpool based soap Brookside playing Elena Jones.
In 2003 Rigby appeared in a one off episode of Born and Bred as Lisa Gunstone.
In 2010, Rigby appeared in short-drama 'Talk' along with Stefan D'Bart playing Eloise.

In 2005, Rigby joined the cast of Hollyoaks playing the role of Hannah Ashworth. She played the role of Hannah for five years, but announced in November that she had quit the soap and would be leaving in June 2009. However, after meetings with show producer Lucy Allan she agreed to stay on the soap for an additional 6 months. In January 2010, Rigby departed from the soap, her character Hannah having left to go travelling alone.
Speaking of her time in Hollyoaks Rigby stated;
“I left because I want to try and move forward with my acting career and try and build a CV and experience working with different people, taking on different roles.
“Being in a soap is very limited because you’re playing the one person.
“It was a fantastic five years of my life that I’m very grateful for but I wouldn’t want to go back.”
